Lights, Camera, ‘I Do’: Wedding Video Etiquette for Brides - Dos and Don’ts to Ensure a Cinematic Masterpiece!

Hey there, beautiful brides-to-be! Your wedding day is a whirlwind of love, laughter, and precious moments that deserve to be captured in all their glory.  To ensure a seamless and unforgettable experience, we’ve put together this guide on wedding video etiquette. So, let’s dive in and ensure your wedding film memories are magical!

 1. Communicate Your Vision Clearly:

If you want your wedding video to reflect your unique style and personality, it’s essential to communicate your vision clearly to your videographer. Share your ideas, inspirations, and any specific moments with special meaning. By opening up a dialogue, we can better understand your expectations and create a video that truly captures the essence of your wedding day and your connection with your partner.

 2. Trust The Expertise Of your Videographer:

While it’s important to communicate your vision, I also encourage my clients to sit back, relax, and trust my expertise. As a filmmaker, I am passionate about capturing those spontaneous, heartfelt, unique moments that make your wedding day special. Please, don’t be a bridezilla and avoid the temptation to micromanage the filming process, as it can hinder our creativity and ability to capture authentic emotions. I love to work my magic when I film weddings, so I adore working with couples that allow me to do what I do best: Film Weddings!

 3. Let Guests Know:

It’s always a good idea to inform your guests that a professional wedding filmmaker will be present to capture the celebration. You can include a note in your wedding invitations or mention it during the ceremony or reception. Letting your guests know ensures that everyone feels comfortable being filmed and allows us to capture genuine reactions and heartfelt moments. Also, it is important to mention that there will be  lights throughout the ceremony, and sometimes, depending on the location, it is unavoidable that some lights may bother some of your guests. I had a guest scream at me because my lights were bothering her. I tried my best, but I needed the lights to be able to do my job and film a well-lit reception.

 4. Relax and Enjoy:

We know you have specific shots in mind, but we encourage you to relax and enjoy your wedding day to the fullest. Trust that we have an eye for capturing the best moments and emotions. While we’ll certainly consider your requests, granting us creative freedom will result in a more compelling and authentic wedding film. So, kick off those shoes, dance the night away, and let us work our magic!

 5. Collaboration with Vendors:

Collaboration is key! We believe in working seamlessly with other vendors, such as photographers, to ensure a harmonious experience for everyone involved. Inform us about each other’s presence, and we’ll coordinate to capture our shots without interference. This collaborative approach ensures that every aspect of your special day is captured flawlessly.

 6. Taking Care of Us:

On your wedding day, you’re the star, and we’re here to capture your shining moments. However, a little consideration goes a long way. Ensure we’re well-fed and hydrated, especially during long ceremonies or receptions. Providing us with a vendor meal and a designated break time will help us maintain our energy and creativity throughout the day, resulting in stunning videos you’ll cherish forever.

Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion.  By following these wedding video etiquette tips, you’ll help any wedding videographer to create an extraordinary film that captures the essence of your celebration. Trust our expertise, communicate your vision, and let your love story unfold naturally. If you choose to work with Voir Videos, we’ll create memories that will bring tears of joy for years to come. Cheers to an unforgettable journey!
